The Hub Revolutionaries: Who are we?

In recent years, The Hub founders, John New and Bill Decker, noticed an interesting trend: Due to the decreasing amount of space made available by larger companies for meetings, as well as the surge of small business growth in the U.S., people increasingly need professional places to meet.

The challenge is that not many places can accommodate these people, given their time, cost, and capability requirements. The problem, as these Revolutionaries see it, is that meetings still matter even though the needs of people who meet continue to go unrecognized. The Hub concept was born from these surging needs, and the founders are meeting them head on, delivering productive, value-enhancing meeting solutions for all customers.

John R. New

John R. NewIn 2002, John New and his business partner, Bill Decker created a new concept that will revolutionize the Meeting Industry. Creating an easy-to-use, multi-faceted, customer-friendly meeting environment that offers all-inclusive pricing is what The Hub offers under John's leadership.

John is an innovator and talented operator with nearly 15 years of leadership, management, and entrepreneurial experience. Prior to developing The Hub, John oversaw several multi-million dollar engagements as a Management Consultant with BearingPoint (formerly KPMG). As a Captain in the United States Army, he coordinated the macro-level logistics of $120 million in assets and the deployment of over 3,000 employees. John also served as an Infantry Platoon Leader managing the training, professional development, tactical employment, and welfare of 31 soldiers throughout the theater of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

From 1992 to 1996, John founded, motivated, and directed a 250-volunteer, nonprofit corporation which assisted the severely impoverished and homeless. Under his leadership, the organization recorded an astonishing 11,000 volunteer hours - building 27 homes, four shelters, two education centers, and the instruction of 40 GED candidates.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, with a minor in Mandarin Chinese. Mr. New is also an accredited Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute.

Bill Decker

Bill DeckerPrior to launching The Hub with his business partner John New, Decker felt that meetings were ineffective, not particularly interesting and basically dull. But once the two partners created a dynamic new way to make meetings more productive and interesting via an easy-to-use facility with incredible design concepts and simple pricing, he came to realize that meetings matter – especially when the meetings are productive and yield inspirational work product.

Bill's professional background includes pharmaceutical marketing and sales (Eli Lilly & Co.), strategy and process management consulting (PricewaterhouseCoopers), and energy (Triton Energy). Through his career exposure, Bill has been involved in organizing, facilitating, and participating in hundreds of meetings in traditional settings. Combined with his experience in the fine dining and banquet business at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, CA, Bill brings valuable insight to the details surrounding successful meetings and the quality of service that companies demand to accommodate world-class companies and their strong desire to achieve results.

A native of San Diego, California, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, with a minor in Russian; and a Master of International Business Administration from Thunderbird, The American School of International Management in Phoenix, Arizona.
